Add an AI chatbot that grounds business answers in your selected pages, posts and documents.

== Description ==

Infonic AI reads the content you already have and turns it into a chatbot that answers your visitors' questions around the clock.

Add a Website Profile so the assistant understands what your business does and only offers contact details for relevant questions it cannot answer.

Infonic AI indexes your selected pages and posts so business answers stay grounded in your website. It can still handle safe basic conversation, but it does not invent unsupported details about your products or policies. When the knowledge base cannot answer a relevant business question, it says so and records the question for you.

= Set up in about two minutes =

1. Install and activate.
2. Click **Connect** — this is the only moment anything is sent anywhere.
3. Pick which content the chatbot should read.
4. It appears on your site.

No API keys to find, no code to paste, no separate account to create first.

= What makes it different =

**It learns from what you already published.** Your pages, posts and (if you use WooCommerce) products become the chatbot's knowledge. Edit a page and the chatbot updates itself.

**It admits when it doesn't know.** Rather than guessing about your business, it shows a polite fallback and logs the relevant unanswered question.

**Unanswered questions become a to-do list.** Every question it couldn't answer is recorded in your Infonic AI dashboard, sorted by how often people asked. Type an answer there, and the chatbot knows it immediately. This is the fastest way to make it genuinely useful.

**It can collect leads.** On plans with lead capture, when the knowledge base cannot answer a relevant business question, the chatbot can offer to take the visitor's email for follow-up.

= Free plan =

* 5 pages indexed
* 1 uploaded document
* 50 chatbot messages a month
* An optional "Powered by Infonic AI" credit that is disabled by default

Paid plans raise the hosted service's usage and content quotas. These quotas are enforced by the Infonic AI service, not by locked functionality in the open-source plugin. No card is needed for the free plan and it does not expire. The plugin never requires a public credit link on any plan.

= Privacy and your visitors =

Questions typed into the chatbot are processed by the Infonic AI service to generate an answer. If you turn on lead capture, visitors may also submit an email address, which is stored for you to reply to. You are the data controller for that information — please make sure your own privacy policy says the chatbot exists and what it collects.

== External services ==

This plugin relies on Infonic AI, a third-party hosted service operated by InfonicAI, to store your content and generate chatbot answers. The plugin cannot work without it: the AI processing does not happen on your server.

**Service:** Infonic AI — https://chat.infonicai.com
**Terms of Service:** https://infonicai.com/infonic-ai-chatbot-terms/
**Privacy Policy:** https://infonicai.com/infonic-ai-chatbot-privacy-policy/

**Nothing is transmitted when you install or activate the plugin.** Data is only sent after you click "Connect" in the setup screen, which states what will be sent before you agree.

The plugin sends the following data to chat.infonicai.com:

* **When you connect:** your email address, your site's URL and name, and the plugin and WordPress version numbers. These create and identify your Infonic AI account.
* **When you sync content:** the title, URL, type and plain text of the posts and pages you have selected. This is what the chatbot answers from. Drafts, private posts, password-protected posts and your privacy policy page are never sent.
* **When a visitor uses the chatbot:** the question they typed and recent messages in that conversation, so the reply makes sense in context. If lead capture is enabled and a visitor chooses to submit their email address, that address is sent and stored so you can reply.
* **When you save your Website Profile:** the business name, description, products and services, target audience, support email and the topics you list as in or out of scope. This tells the chatbot what your business does and when to hand over to a human.

Every request the plugin makes to the service also identifies your site: each one carries your site's URL along with the plugin and WordPress version numbers, not only the initial connection. The service additionally receives your site's IP address as a normal consequence of making an HTTP request.

Data is retained until you delete it from your Infonic AI account or the account is closed. You can disconnect at any time from the plugin's setup screen, which stops future transmission but does not delete data already stored by the service.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin through **Plugins → Add New**, or upload the folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`.
2. Activate it through the **Plugins** screen.
3. Go to **Infonic AI Chatbot** in the admin menu and follow the setup steps.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Do I need an account before installing? =

No. The setup screen creates one for you using your admin email address. If you already have an Infonic AI account, you can connect to it instead — you will be emailed a link to approve the connection, so nobody else can attach a site to your account.

= Will it invent answers about my business? =

Business answers are grounded in the content you selected. The assistant may handle safe basic conversation, but when your content does not support a business-specific answer it uses a fallback instead of inventing details.

= What happens when I edit a page? =

Just that page is re-sent and the chatbot updates. Deleting or unpublishing a page removes it from the chatbot too.

= My site has hundreds of pages. Will syncing time out? =

No. Content is sent in small batches in the background, so it works on shared hosting. You can leave the page while it runs.

= Where does the chat appear? =

The chatbot loads as a launcher button in the corner of every page on the front end of your site. You can turn it on and off from the plugin dashboard.

= Can I hide it on certain pages? =

Yes, with a small snippet. The plugin exposes a `infonicai_should_render` filter that decides whether the chatbot loads on the current request, so you can return false for any page, post type or condition you like.

= Can I change the colors, avatar and welcome message? =

Yes, from your Infonic AI dashboard under Bot appearance. The plugin picks up those settings automatically, so there is nothing to configure inside WordPress.

= What happens if the Infonic AI service is unavailable? =

Your website carries on exactly as normal. The chat window simply doesn't load. Nothing on your site depends on the service being up.

= Does it work with WooCommerce? =

Yes. If WooCommerce is active you can include products, and the chatbot is also given each product's price and stock status, which is what shoppers usually ask about.

= How do I remove it completely? =

Deactivate and delete the plugin. That removes all of its settings from your site. Your Infonic AI account and its content are kept — delete those from your Infonic AI dashboard if you want them gone.
